Portraits are so much easier when your subject is comfortable – you can tell by their body language, their facial expressions, and how they interact with their environment. So where would be more comfortable than a friend photographing you in your own apartment?
Becky and I have been friends for about a year, and have been wanting to do a shoot together ever since we met. Unfortunately, time flew by and soon my bags were packed for London. However, with a couple nights left before my flight, one of them happened to be spent with Becky and her boyfriend Owen (check him out in the next blog post) in their apartment. We tore through Becky’s closet and pulled some fun pieces that we wanted to use, and had a bit of an impromptu photoshoot. The evening light faded quickly, but in the short time we had we were able to use the huge living room window to play around and create some pretty fun portraits! In our minds, this shoot was about waking up the morning after a wild party, and then pushing through and keeping the bender going for another night. Ahem – not that WE would know what that feels like. Props to Owen for keeping the crafty table full of snacks – you da real MVP.
